Hand that Feeds was created in 2010, before I was married and changed my name, so it signed HMBT.
I feel everything, deeply. This reality is hard to process at times and I wanted to create a work that would be a talisman to help encourage, validate and protect that tenderness for what I do. I have kept it in my studio and lived with it for these years because it has worked. I has reminded me on the hard days why I am here and that I have a job to do in the transmuting of information in this time and place. I am not the best in the world, I am me. I have a magic that lives inside of me and I am in communication with it. It emerges from my hands and makes marks on canvas with paint and all the love a being can possibly hold for just getting this moment to be alive. No matter the moment, they are all worth being here for. I feel it's time to let this work out into the world, it whispers to me that it has more work to do. I hope you enjoy.
