Artist's description:

Eggs in a blue bowl on a square topped side table that had been made by my Dad. I'd been to Peru and saw some artworks painted on the walls of an hotel I stayed in. They were made on rough hessian that had first been glued onto the walls. I loved the soft pastel quality of the paint and decided to experiment when I got home. I applied oil paint straight out of the tube onto unprimed hessian which I'd bought ready stretched and achieved the matt surface I wanted.
To get a folk art look I changed the perspective to make it look flatter.
My Dad's table was made from found materials, the bowl had been made by a student in a local college and had been rejected but I liked it and gave it a home!
I love the quirkiness of both.

Materials used:

Unprimed hessian stretched on stretchers, oil paint, solid wood frame.

Folksy (2016)
