Artist's description:

The Summer Equinox begins the season of balance when the light is equal to the darkness. I wanted to do a visual interpretation of the concept and decided on a checkerboard to begin the story.
That which was dormant is now revitalized, alive, and reborn.
The Calla Lily is named after the Greek word for beautiful and is associated with the Greek goddess Hera.
the Romans considered it a powerful phallic symbol because of the pistils giving it some serious transgender issues.
The composition was reminiscent of a recent trip to Guatemala where
I noticed several women carrying bundles of this exotic flower on their heads.
