Original artwork description:

This painting tells a story of conflict, realization, and embracement. What originally started as a oil painting of a far of sea scape was turned into this piece. The creation of the underlying oil piece was a conflict that seemed to never end. I had come to the conclusion that this canvas must have been tainted and I finally decided to throw it aside in hopes of picking it up another day. Months had passed and nothing had been changed or touched. Instead I heard a voice whisper "paint it over". My inner conscious is something that I have learned to trust but not in such a matter. But once again months had passed since anything was touched again. Suddenly one day I had spontaneously taken this canvas , whipped a lightly off white interior wall paint layer on it and began my drawings of this fish.
I was infatuated with the statement there are many fish in the sea, for everyone seemed to skip over the fact that all we really are is another fish. We must make ourselves special, embrace the color we feel , and portray more than just a simple monotone fish. What we are is a product of nature , this is what i wanted to convey with the opposing gravity drips. We do not drip away, but more so that life drips on us, causing us to change in our own unique waves. Along with convoluted layers of spirals and line work, this fish is somewhat a self portrait of my current stance with life. I believe that I am not alone and that there are people out there who share the same feeling as me, a feeling that goes as such...I am not in sinking to the bottom, but I am also not on top. I seem to be have characteristics of buoyancy, a inherent skill to be somewhere in the middle.

Materials used:

oil painting served as a base, Custom off white bear interior paint, marker, antique diluted acrylic paint, artist loft white paint for effect, canvas.
