Original artwork description:

Black Panther Party Series
Imaginary portrait of a Black Panther Party's member.

In 1968, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover ordered his office to take "draconian measures to dismantle the Black Panther Party."

The police then attacked the members tirelessly: shootings, assassinations, investigations and surveillance.

27 Black Panthers were assassinated between 1968 and 1976.

By 1969 police had conducted more than 13 raids on party premises, and by the end of 1976 it was estimated that 30 Black Panthers faced the death penalty, 40 life, 55 prison terms of up to 30 years.
