Artist's description:

There is in nature a balance, between good/bad, wet/dry, dark/light, and fire/water. Many things have fallen out of balance including our roles as people and our gender roles. Traditionally for much of the indigenous world, water keepers and bearers are women. We carry water in which we foster new life. Water is our element. Fire is the opposite element, and men are the fire keepers and tenders. The panel with a mans face and orange flicker band is the fire half. He wears his dance regalia and is surrounded by basket patterns and spirits while his female counterpart on the second panel wears her regalia, holds her sash, and is likewise surrounded with spirits and patterns from her land. This set is 2 panels, each measuring 19"w x 24"h
