Elephants are beautiful animals to paint! They have interesting characteristics and body elements which makes my page visually come to life. I worked with Acrylic on canvas textured paper.
On my palette mixing the grey colors took some time because I wanted to make the colors smooth as possible. As my painting progresses I tried to avoid too much line detail apart from the face and the trunk. I applied tiny smooth details on the bottom of the face adjusting it with the trunk. The details on the face took time and effort to balance correctly. Once I got that visually right every other part of the two elephants body were painted with smooth grey colors making it effective. That was the whole purpose of the painting making the colors smooth. With the painting I loved the way I portrayed the elephants from a front view angle. Elephants look visually more interesting in this way.
The brushed down finishing of the final artwork made the elephants visually intriguing!
