Artist's description:

At top and right, a purple peeks through top layers of turquoise, blue and pearly pale green. At the lower portion of this small painting (8x8 inches on cradled birch board), a diagonal slope cuts across and scoops above a gold layer. That layer cracks and slips to reveal the underpainting; small gold circles (as if other worlds in this slightly planetary "scene") spin. This is an encaustic painting consisting of highly pigmented beeswax strengthened by damar varnish, here painted over an underpainting and embellished with gold metallic powdered pigment "melted" into the surface.

Materials used:

cradled hardboard, encaustic (pigmented and hardened beeswax), powdered and metallic pigments
