“This is abstract piece experiments with the contrast between green and yellow - two of my favourite colours at the moment because of their freshness and vibrancy. The theme of the painting was inspired by a sun rise over a green meadow. In terms of style I was heavily influenced by a recent 'Abstract Expressionism' exhibition in London.”
"Enchanting Forest, mixed media on canvas, 60x60 cm, 2017" by Fabienne Monestier
“This piece is an imagining of the world of fairies and enchantment, with its nocturnal scenes, the shining and round moon that illuminates the forest with a pearly sheen. The fantastic becomes reality. The beauty of dreams clears the darkness of the world...”
“The painting is part of the series "Big Shots. Große Tiere." - portraits of street dogs. After the dogs have been living in dog shelters for a short or a long period of time
some of them found a new owner, others, unadoptable, are less fortunate. On the canvas they become protagonists – big shots – in their own stories, and step out of the anonymous shadowy existence into an imaginary limelight. Thanks to their famous names they move into the focus of our perception.”
"Somewhere Only We Go 31.5"x24" (80x60cms) Original Large Acrylic Abstract Painting, 2016" by Susan Wooler
“My inspiration for this painting came from the 'secret' places we all have, whether we share them with our partners, our lovers, our friends or alone. My secret place is a secluded dip within the sand dunes, where I sit on a cold wintery day with a flask of Hot Chocolate, being surrounded by taller and larger sand dunes it is sheltered from the winds, but still allows stunning inspirational views of the beach and sea. In summer I lay back, close me eyes and colours dance around in my mind's eye from the reflections of the sun and the clouds floating across the sky. This inspired me to create this painting with white translucent airbrushing to represent the sea spray.”
“This artwork is in my favourite impressionist style - light and airy - and it conveys the tenderness of the young romantic lady discovering the beautiful world around her.”
“I find mirrors fascinating. When we look into one are we seeing the present, the past over our shoulder or searching for what the future may hold? What are the reflections revealing to us? Do we see what we wish to see or what is reality? These questions are the basis and inspiration for a collection of oil paintings featuring a mirror and although personal to my own inner feelings, the viewer is left to find their own answers...”
“I have always been interested in superstitions surrounding owls. These nocturnal creatures often appear in mystery films and have been associated with dark, haunting nights. Their wide staring eyes give them a wise appearance, while the ability to turn their head around makes them fascinating and mysterious creatures. Tufts of feathers on the top of an owl's head gives them the appearance of horned devils and their piercing cries add to the unsettling effect.”
“I love to paint the emotions of the female figures that emerge from my imagination. Each one ends up expressing a mixture of my emotions and hers. This piece raises a feeling of expectation, of new things to come. The kind of future that answers your thoughts and wishes and when it comes, it's mood and brightness greatly depends on how much have you done to welcome it...”
"Abstract Gemstone Inspired Painting: 'Bertrandite', 2017" by Alicia van Loenhout
“This painting is inspired by the gemstone Bertrandite, part my series inspired by gemstones. Each stone contains unique positive energy and symbolism that captivates me.”
“In 'By the Beautiful Sea' I brought my background in Materials Science and Optics into the creative process. Novel glass lenses, unique approaches to acrylic, and light manipulating media combine to bring light into the painting – quite literally. Novel optics make the painting responsive to the environment and viewer in unexpected ways as the sea “lights up” or softly glows in changing light and when viewed from different angles.”
