"Colors of Love, 2015" by Deniz A.

“Summer set lip to earth's bosom bare, And left the flushed print in a poppy there: Like a yawn of fire from the grass it came, And the fanning wind puffed it to flapping flame.”

"Biology of an Idea, 2011" by Regina Valluzzi

“'Biology of an Idea' is a play on the structure of ideas and the biological basis of thought. Interconnected neurons merge into an impression of a head and face. The head and face are the locus of most of the senses and our connection to the world. Very detailed fine line patterns suggestive of neurons, pulses and connections form a web. The suggestion of features and a person emerge organically from these patterns in an allusion to the emergent nature of consciousness. Blink, and the suggestion is lost in a tangle of neuronal patterns. The thinker, lost in the thought.”

"Selfie, 2017" by Adam S. Boarman

“This is my first self portrait. The painting is meant as a metaphor, except for the eyes, which, as reflections of the soul, are clear and unchanging at the center of a constantly changing universe.”

"Standing Firm, 2016" by Eva Volf

“'Standing Firm' captures the rocks enduring the crushing waves on a misty spring California morning, a great metaphor for our life.”

"Streets of New York #2" by Adriana Dziuba

“This is just one of many every day scenes of atmospheric New York in the rain. I love the way the traffic lights of the busy city reflect in the wet road surface; I find it really beautiful and charming.”

"Passion del Tango, 2016" by Ed Schimmel

The tango is one of the most fascinating dances. It is a feast for the eye to see the couples dance so beautifully and full of passion. When I just met my wife I suggested learning the tango. I imagined us dancing the tango just as the couple on the print. Unfortunately, I am not a good dancer and we stopped after the first course. However, I remained fascinated with it and decided to create this piece of a couple dancing the tango.”

"Island View, 2017" by Conni Reinecke

“Sometimes you visit a place and it stays with you in spirit, just as a piece of your spirit stays there. There are a few places such places that I have visited; Maui was one of them and there isn't a day that I don't hold a memory close to my heart and long to return! I absolutely love the views from tropical paradises like Maui - the gorgeous flowers and sunsets over the vast ocean of islands. I love to explore these memories in watercolor and share my love of the place with others.”

"River of Time" by Phyllis Mahon

“Central to the image are the Three Graces dancing barefoot in a muddy field. To the left a pregnant woman gazes at them (perhaps with memory of freedom and carefree times) and to their right an angel touches one of the women, a reminder of the brevity of life, whilst a bunch of red flowers drop their leaves into the swirling river, to be carried along in the tumultuous waters to the young girl, who at her mother's feet, reaches for the petals. When creating this piece, I was thinking of the cycle of life: childhood, adulthood, motherhood and the life thereafter. It was painted when my daughter was three years old and the young girl is an impression of her.”

"The Iris, 2017" by Tiffany Budd

“This is a large acrylic and collage painting of an iris in full bloom. It is painted on a chunky canvas and has collage in the background to give extra interest and make it more unusual and contemporary.”

"GREEN" by Saroja van der Stegen

“This painting is inspired by the sea and mountains while living in Majorca and trekking in the rough mountains and swimming in the seas. Painting for me is a very private engagement and it is more difficult for me to express in words what happens when I paint. Painting is for me an expression of inner emotions, it does not need to represent the real world.”
