"Silent burning, oil on canvas 130x97cm, 2017" by Frederic Belaubre

“Being born to a family of classical contemporary musicians, the basis of my work is dynamic and harmonic enrichment by colour in its semi-opacity or transparency, to a "subject" that is a static or dynamic shape, synthetic expression of an emotion. The subtlety of a tonal or atonal harmony is translated into painting, the influence of the music is predominant. This painting communicates my feeling of lightness, the luminosity of the world.”

"Green Gold, 2017" by Jenny Wilson

“The sky turned black and the whole landscape that surrounded me lit up - everything was transformed to the brightest green. For 10 minutes everything was lit up in grey. The colours created by this light and the contrasting angry skies inspire me the most; these colours never fail to amaze and urge me to get into the studio.”

"Rue Du Vieux Marché Aux Vins, 2017" by Etienne Pascal

“This is the first piece that I have created this year, and for me a very special one. It reminds me of a beautiful day last October when I was visiting Strasbourg. The morning light was mesmerising and really captured the essence of the city.”

"Peonies at the Farmers Market, 2017" by Paige Wallis

“One summer a few years ago, I was displaying some of my work with a group of artists in a gallery tent at a farmers market in western Massachusetts. I would occasionally stroll around and check out the other vendor's wares, and this one particular table caught my eye so I took several reference shots. I was really drawn - and immensely challenged - to capture this scene with it's variety of textures, surfaces and contrasting pinks and greens.”

"Finding Room to Breathe, 2016" by Melissa Perhamus

“This is an imaginary landscape filled with imagery of trees, rocks, water, hills, and sky. These landscapes are created from imagery of my experiences; created from my organic memory; pieced together to create a challenging yet familiar imaginary landscape.”

"Moors, 2016" by Angie Spencer

“In August 2016 I was awarded an artist’s residency in my home town of Scarborough. It was fantastic to have a whole month to explore painting my favourite landscapes. This painting is inspired by the North Yorks Moors between Scarborough and Whitby. They are vast, and in August very purple with heather. I spent a day out sketching and photographing this beautiful landscape and then I worked on this painting in my studio, spending a long time working and re-working the textured foreground grasses and getting just the right northern summer blue for the sky.”

""Purity", 2017" by Karel Willems

“Innocence at can at times be defined by age. Climbing trees, riding bikes, just having fun. Undefiled, unabashed, pure. This piece is part of a series of pieces inspired by this model; I found it interesting how different angles cam portray different personality traits. The same model that confronted the viewer two paintings ago is the personification virtue and purity here.”

"Trailing Spring Blooms, 2017" by Rebekah Burgess

“This piece reflects my absolute delight in the long awaited arrival of spring whilst peering out of the window at the emerging buds and shoots. I mixed acrylic paint in invigorating spring hues and applied to canvas using a number of layering techniques, sponging and blending the background to create the impression of distance, light and warmth.”

"Ms Nesbit, 2016" by Juliette Belmonte

“This piece is one of a series of portraits based loosely on Victorian photos. This one is of the famous chorus girl and artist's model Evelyn Nesbit. In a time when a photo takes no more than a thought and a click of a cell phone, the Victorian portrait, with it's laborious process and equipment seems impossibly romantic.”

"Money can’t buy 1, 2017" by anialuk

“It’s good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy.”
