“One summer a few years ago, I was displaying some of my work with a group of artists in a gallery tent at a farmers market in western Massachusetts. I would occasionally stroll around and check out the other vendor's wares, and this one particular table caught my eye so I took several reference shots. I was really drawn - and immensely challenged - to capture this scene with it's variety of textures, surfaces and contrasting pinks and greens.”

Alexander Kriushin is works in the traditions of the European school of fine arts, combined with the southern temperament of execution. The artist travels a lot and works en plein air, but often a plain etude is just an excuse for further work, and then the work begins in the studio.
