"Magic Light on Chapel at Quinta da Regaleira, Sintra, Portugal, 2013" by Taylor Moore

“It was a cloudy and mysterious day when I arrived early at Quinta da Regaleria. I was giving a tour by an Italian photographer and while he was photographing a detail on another structure I took this timely photograph. When I looked back to review the image on my camera, I could not believe what I had captured. I quickly went to shoot another frame...but the fleeting light had vanished. The magical light of Sintra had been captured!”

"'White Rocks', 2013" by Simon Kirk

“In ‘White Rocks’ I was drawing inspiration from Cave Art paintings that served as maps, historical records and stories but also reflected man’s innate desire to paint and to create art. This work is primarily layers of painting combined with collaged elements. However, I also use the decollage technique - I build up layers of composition, color and abstract imagery and then strip parts away by cutting, tearing or sanding. I repeat this process until the work reaches a balance and is finished.”

"Beat, 2014" by Jacqueline Talbot

“This painting is inspired by serpentine, fluid shapes; particularly those of ribbons dancing in the wind. The heavy contrast of dark and light gives the effect of rich, silken fabric and the twist and turns reflect our own journey through life. The two dominant colours of blue and pinkish-red also represent at a basic level the flow of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood around our circulatory system. At a greater level, this symbolises the constant recycling that happens throughout the environment and in all living things.”

"The Flood I ( La Piena)- Monotype, 2014" by Ilaria Rosselli Del Turco

“I recently visited Rome when there was a real flood danger and Tiber had already bursted its banks upstream. The weather those days was misty and threatening but the bridges had seen centuries of floods, and just looked by at the water rushing under them. From one of the iconic spots celebrated in the movie "The Great Beauty", this is an exceptional view of the arches of Ponte Vittorio Emanuele almost submerged by muddy waters, with the dome of St Peter looming in the distance. A scene that I felt compelled to portray in a monotype. This printing technique is perfect for producing evocative and mysterious works. A crossover between a painting and a print, a monotype is obtained by manipulating ink on a copper plate and transferring the ink on paper through a printing press. Only one print can be pulled from the plate, after which the matrix is lost, making the resulting print a unique and original work.”

"Mist blue, 2014" by Manuel Delaflor

“It was a really cold morning, and there was this mist making everything look ethereal, like a nostalgic dream. I took my camera and a couple of lenses and decided to try to look for photos that could depict an emotion, far beyond the light. I walked and walked for about an hour, with my hands freezing, but I wanted to have the best possible framing and composition. I'm convinced in that, as a photographer, you are responsible for everything that is in the frame, therefore taking your time to make a good composition is crucial.

"Imperfect Beauty, 2014" by shanny schmidt

“Art has always been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember...but it has taken on many forms throughout my life. Training to be an opera singer and singing professionally, then becoming a professional chef, were ways I found to express my creativity...but about 4 years ago, I finally settled into what I wish I had known all along....I love to paint! Painting has brought me so much peace and happiness, I consider myself so lucky to be able to wake up every day, walk into my studio and spend my day doing something I love.”

"The Puffin , 2010" by David Holliday

“The Northumberland coast is a haven for wildlife. Every summer I take a boat out to the Farne Islands to study the sea birds and grey seals. When painting wildlife I use a palette that is more true-to-life, and I find that the creatures which interest me, naturally, have colours that are both vivid and captivating. I am particularly drawn to the Puffins, also known as ‘the clowns of the sea’, due to their brightly coloured beaks. I try to get a contrast by using vivid reds, yellows and blues for their beaks set against muted, earthy colours for the rocky outcrops on which they perch.”

"Badger and primroses, 2014" by Jane Tomlinson

“As the days become lighter, badger cubs venture out from the safety of setts where they were born two months ago. They emerge into a world carpeted with spring flowers. Here’s a young badger among a cluster of primroses. I recently saw one - not dead at the roadside as I so often see them - but very much alive! It turned and for a moment and looked at me then trundled off, disappearing into the hedgerow. Badgers are a much-loved protected species and a vital part of our natural heritage.”

"Incontri casuali nella piazza, 2014" by Alessandro Andreuccetti

“This painting is telling us a little story about this girl surrounded by many people in front of the ancient walls of the town. No one is really interested in her thoughts. Every day hundreds of people all over the world meet by chance in this square; thousands of eyes are crossed without really seeing; heads turn around curious to discover hidden details; legs and feet tread the paths already known for centuries...All that counts is the fact of being present in the square to be able to say I was there.”

"You dance like a rapturous player, 2008" by Gugi Goo

“In this series of paintings I was inspired by transformation and rhythm of the colors in space. In all my work I'm inspired by music and silence - which can often be the most beautiful music that you've ever heard! Looking at my artworks I'm sure that you can hear the silence and take a breath just for the moment, to relax and enjoy.”
