"Just Fishing, 2013" by Sam Charles

“By simplifying then amplifying the colours and shapes of animal in his paintings, Sam Charles offers a neck-snapping punch of vivid style and mesmerising technique.” - Frank Stephenson, Design Director at McLaren Automotive. Hand painted using highly pigmented oil paints and the natural organic texture of linen, each Sam Charles artwork is unique combination of differing colours and textures.

"Oil on canvas #20, 2011" by Frederic Belaubre

Blank canvas. Orange, pink, black, dark grey... becoming light. A bird has passed, leaving the imprint of a quiver deep in the sky. Green earth, turquoise, sparkle of a stroke, she raises her face, quiet, contemplative. Blank canvas, filled silence, faded blue, mirror of senses where the emotion is sheltered in the furrow of a brush of ruffled seaweed. Transmutation...red ochre, flutter of lashes. Manganese, smile. Suspended yellow.

"London Oxford Street, 2013" by Paul Mitchell

“An original acrylic on block canvas painting of London's busy Oxford Street. This one is caught during the last rays of daylight as the shoppers meet the commuters on their way home to make way for the night owls! This one focused again on ambient and neon light, also using a lot of palette knife work to lay on thick paint.”

"Cornwall Memories, 2012" by Paul Butler

“I love Cornwall as a County. Here I tried to capture the beauty of the North coast through the use of sand and stone linked to the beautiful blue of the sea.”

"She's Electric, 2013" by Martin Pettinger

“This photograph was taken after a violent squall by Castle Crags on Benarty Hill, looking towards Bishop Hill in Kinross-shire. The clearing squall and low raking light created a double rainbow. The title, ‘She's Electric’, is because the fence in the foreground is electric - possibly to stop the sheep from a 200 feet drop.”

"Autumn Progression, 2014" by Simon Fairless

“A large painting in splash or drip art style made famous by Jackson Pollock. The technique looks random and and easy to achieve, however these take quite a bit of planning to create a balance across the whole piece built up over several layers, and you need a lot of space in your studio to work around the horizontal canvas. This piece represents the progress of colour through autumn from light yellows through orange and eventually to the rich reds of late autumn. A stunning piece of abstract art for any home and a painting which will light up a room.” Discover our collection of works inspired by Jackson Pollock - https://www.artfinder.com/story/inspired-by-pollock/

"1940's Love Letter - 'My Dearest Darling' - Page 4/4, 2013" by Laura New

“This piece is a delicate original ink illustration upon a page from a genuine love letter written in 1946. Amidst my search for various paper ephemera, I happened upon a group of letters by a trainee Navy Engineer named James to his sweetheart and fiancée Ruth. They were separated by almost 3000 miles whilst James underwent his specialist training for the Navy and while writing every day (sometimes twice) James describes the strict rules of his particular barracks, the jokes he and the other trainees play on each other and most beautifully, how much he misses and loves Ruth.”

"Celina in Azure, 2013" by Liz Lever

“I love the rhythm of this pose. I captured it by cutting paper which I'd painted a bright shade of azure, and mounting this on a crisp white background. I cut out just enough detail to suggest how the model is sitting, but I like to leave a lot for the viewer to work out. My series of cut-out nudes was initially inspired by Matisse's Blue Nudes - I try to emulate some of his energetic style and apparent simplicity in my work.”

"Pure love, 2013" by Clare Ellis

“I adore the shape of a heart and it's symbolism. Inspired by aboriginal art, each dot is delicately hand painted using the end of a paint brush. Rich in pretty colours, this piece is an ideal gift for the one you love.”

"Kiss in Blue, Print" by Paola Minekov

“In this painting I wanted to capture that special feeling of the few moments before a first kiss. Once, at an exhibition opening, I saw an old couple spending quite a bit of time looking at this work. They went away and a little later came back to look at it some more, holding hands...”
