"Bearded Tit, 2014" by Gordon Brady

“This is a painting of a small bird, the bearded tit, which is a summer visitor to UK. It lives in the reed beds and is very difficult to see, flitting from reed to reed, then dropping down and out of sight. It is a lovely bird and one I hope I have captured after just alighting before disappearing to its nest below.”

"Caveat, the Lion, 2014" by Sarah Wymer

“Recently I have been pulled in the direction of portraits. ‘Caveat, the Lion’ has an incredible energy which is created from a combination of the powerful image, the texture, the brush strokes, and the massive size of the piece. Bringing this painting to life was a rejuvenating, rewarding and powerful experience for me - it took numerous sessions and I used a layering and glazing technique throughout. The many layers underneath gives this painting a powerful energy one can certainly feel even though they may not be able to see each individual layer.”

"The Seagulls, 2014" by Milena Dimitrokallis

“As I watched the seagulls, I thought: That's the road to take; find the absolute rhythm and follow it with absolute trust.” (Nikos Kazantzakis)

"First light at the Lakeside, 2014" by Deleted Artist

“‘First light at the Lakeside’ originates from a spot I found while heading south towards Beddgelert, Wales. The sun had just broken over the ridge of the lakeside mountain and being first thing in the morning, the air was crisp and fresh. I am fond of this painting as it reminds me of suddenly seeing this location while driving in the truck and having to slam on the brakes, to park up and hop the fence. Well worth the effort. As you will see in this painting, I am continuing to further the style of energetic representation, while at the same time trying to stay true to the tones and forms.”

"Rhine Trees in the Mist, 2013" by Vandy Massey

“Ever since I was a child I've loved trees. I was never happier than when climbing to the highest branches where I could see for miles. I love a sense of scale and the possibilities in a distant view. In this painting, a sense of mystery is added by the mistiness of the soft background. The texture in the dips between the forested ridges create tendrils of mist rising up through the branches. This painting has a feel of the Bavarian forests about it which inspired the title.”

""Cally in Blue" 30x40 Original oil painting on canvas, 2014" by Juliette Belmonte

“Originally painted from a live model in a studio setting over a series of Autumn afternoons in New Hampshire, this painting eventually took on a life of it's own. She was a great model and a joy to paint. I think that the peaceful and meditative mood of the afternoon sittings naturally made it's way into the brushstrokes and invoked the whole painting with a serene feel. The dress and bracelets were made several weeks later with hand dyed tissue paper and gold foil.”

"Bay of Skaill, Winter, Abstract, 2012" by Nicki MacRae

“The beautiful Orkney Isles have long held fascination for me...I've spent much time there working as an artist - making landscape paintings and working alongside archaeologists exploring Orkney's buried treasures. This abstract draws on experiences of the Bay of Skaill in Winter when it’s most wild - I wanted to give a sense of the rounded sweep of the bay, the petrol blue of sea and sky intermingled, acid orange of the thrown up seaweed, the rolling of the waves...and the scattered, fleeting nature of what I was viewing through the wind and rain that battered me as I worked.”

"Red Archipelago , 2012" by Hannah Cawthorne

“This artwork is a photograph, but purposely composed and edited in such a way to give it the feel of an Abstract Expressionist painting. I try to capture details of everyday life and turn them into works of abstract art in the style I love. I work from found objects in our urban environments, which I hope reflect the beauty that can be found in our everyday lives - if you train your eyes to see it in a certain way. This picture is one of a series I took of boats whilst they were in dry dock undergoing re-painting and repair. This picture is of the rudder area on the underside of the boat, but this circular paint effect is quite unique; I have never seen it on any other boat I have photographed. I always compose my images very carefully, cropping what I see in a way to create a striking composition. After that, I edit the photographs using photoshop, but in such a way as to only enhance what was really there, not to alter reality, as I think that it is important that these photographs reflect the hidden beauty that can be found all around us.”

"Sun Path To Ide, 2013" by John Groves

“A scene of sunshine forming a a light halo along a wooded path. This path between Exeter and Ide in Devon is one of my favourite subjects and I return to it often as the light and seasons change. This image is set in a hot day when everything, including the sunlight, feels as if it is moving at a snails pace. The work is signed with my initials and the year on the front.”

"La voluntad, 2012" by Deleted Artist

“This painting is a part of my series of works entitled ‘Growing’, where I try to capture the behaviours and feelings I was discovering in my sons Jose and Miguel when they were growing and starting to know themselves. Perhaps the fact that these models were my kids made me pay closer attention to those behaviours, and even motivated me more to try and capture these feelings on the canvas. On a plaster background in blue and white, this piece shows the figure of a child holding a hat in his hands whilst waiting patiently for the person that observes him.”
