Fresh Springtime meadows, cloud chasing and the wild beauty of delicate cow parsley nodding in the breeze is my inspiration for this one. More layers and texture to come as the composition takes shape πŸŒ±πŸ’šπŸŒ±

Beautiful soft sunlight is streaming into my studio today, and I am loving all these Spring colours on my palette πŸŒΈπŸƒI feel in a sort of transitionary phase this week...finishing current paintings, yet aspiring to clean white canvases waiting for fresh paint and new compositions to evolve.

My new series of paintings are progressing beautifully with fresh new layers of paint, blending, creating depth and buttery texture with my palette knife. It feels so energising to be surrounded by these Spring-inspired canvases πŸ’šπŸŒΏ

I am loving getting stuck into mixing fresh buttery paint, applying new layers and texture to my latest Spring-inspired canvases. Right now my studio feels so refreshing and energised with the colours of Spring, I may just have to spend some time in here over the weekend! πŸ’šπŸŒΏ

    Return to the studio...

Back home, feeling refreshed, restored and inspired from my travels, armed with a wonderful new collection of sea studies. Full of visual memories and expressive mark making, I'm ready to create new artworks coming soon πŸ’™ For now, it's so good to be back in my studio to continue working on the Spring-inspired paintings I left a few weeks ago 🌿

    Catching the waves...

    Catching the waves...

There's a stunning beach here called Half Moon Bay and it's protected by Antigua's national park scheme, so it's just the natural coastline. Crescent-shaped with the finest white sand and clear water, and there are big rolling waves crashing on the rocks at the edge of the bay. I love to paint here trying to capture the incredible power and energy of the ocean, exploring my response to this wondrous element of nature πŸ’™πŸŒŠ

    Sketchbook practice...

I have sketched this view many times but it always feels like a new challenge each time I put pen to paper...to look, to absorb into my visual memory, and respond with a line, a scribble and a wash of colour. So, here's the latest take on this stretch of the shoreline 🌴🌿

    Painting the ocean...

Making paint studies when I'm away by the sea is a very special time and an important element of my creative practice, and I just LOVE to paint the ocean when I'm here πŸ’™ ...Later I'm heading to one of my favourite beaches to capture some waves! πŸŒŠπŸ’™

    Beside the sea...

I've swapped the studio for some time by the ocean πŸ’™A winter sun getaway with time to sketch and paint the mesmerising vista of sea and coast, and soak up the wonderful sunlight and vibrant colour πŸ’š...starting with some small sketches.
