    Beside the sea...

    For me there has always been this incredible fascination with the sea. Right from my earliest childhood memories I loved to explore muddy creeks, the sandy beach collecting shells, and play in the waves along the shoreline of the North Norfolk coast. I feel so 'at home' when I return to these familiar places. So, it is these emotional and visual memories that feed my creative practice as I work on my new series of seascapes πŸ’™

    Coastal memories...

    Sitting in the sand dunes watching the tidal waters ebb and flow, sand banks revealed, creating new patterns, and colours of the sea... This is my inspiration for this one. I love these early possibilities as a new painting evolves, scribing through the wet paint surface, mixing on the canvas, creating the movement and texture that I seek to capture in this piece. More layers and texture to come as the composition takes shape πŸ’™

    It's so good to be working on a new series of paintings inspired by childhood memories of the Norfolk coastline - huge moody skies, dune grasses, creeks and marshland. With these first layers it's looking rather monochromatic at the moment, but there will be more sandy hues to come πŸ’™
