  • St Michael's Mount...

    St Michael's Mount...

Sketching the view, from the Godolphin Arms in Marazion, of the castle after getting the ferry back with the incoming tide. From a stormy-looking sky, the sun broke through again casting a warm evening glow on St Michael's Mount.

    A day in St Ives...

    A day in St Ives...

Adding some colour to this sketch of Porthmeor Beach when we spent the day in St Ives, Cornwall, wandering around the bustling streets and art galleries...And, flicking through this wonderful book beautifully written and illustrated by Cornish artist Sue Lewington, which totally captures my memories of our day there β˜€οΈ

    Holiday sketching...

    Holiday sketching...

Sitting in the soft pale sand dunes amongst the long grasses on Rock Beach, North Cornwall...capturing a quick scribbly pen sketch of the estuary, low tide rock pools, beach patterns and holidaymakers on a beautiful summer's day πŸ’› This is how my creative practice starts as I develop ideas for new artwork compositions 🎨

    Painting the blues...

    Painting the blues...

Returned from my travels and excited to be back in the studio to develop my sea studies and sketches 🌊 This is a genre I am very drawn to and will be developing a new collection of works on this theme. Here's a seascape inspired from childhood memories of the North Norfolk coastline.

    Catching the light...

    Catching the light...

I love painting the sea! I have made so many painting studies and yet it presents me with a new challenge every time. Whilst I have been away at Easter I have been doing new studies seeking to capture the light dancing on the surface as late afternoon turns to sundown. Watching the colours soften and glow πŸ’œ

    Working at the easel...

    Working at the easel...

I love my studio - it's my own space where I can be creative. I'm not one for clutter as I like to have space around me when I am working at the easel - painting with a palette knife with gestural strokes, building layers and texture in my paintings.

    In the studio...

Being mad about colour I love my red chair and my old European pine table which used to be our kitchen table until we needed a larger one! This is where I like to work on my Sue's Originals collection of ink and watercolour paintings.
