    Autumn Inspiration Again

    I have been working on a series of water based oil paintings over the past couple of weeks. The new Autumn colours are always a fantastic inspiration to capture the season. I love painting with water based oil paints and this time I have mixed with cold wax which gives a lovely buttery consistency to the paint .......but it does takes ages for the paint to dry !

    I am working on some colourful abstract paintings at the moment which is nicely liberating. These have been inspired by my creative son who has been experimenting with sewing coloured LED lighting strips into the lining of his leather jackets so that he becomes a one man cosmic light show!

    Working on a commission

    Working on a commission

    I am working on a painting at the moment commissioned through Artfinder. The first stage for me is to produce a rough which shows composition and tonal range and then to progress to a colour palette. It is great when a commissioner puts their faith in you and I much prefer if people are honest if any changes are preferred based on a rough so that they are happy with the final result. Very often a commission is based on a client's memories of a favourite place and I try to evoke that feeling of being at that time and place. Commissions are always a special challenge and I am always very happy to take commissions and to work to a budget range.

    Sky Landscape Artist of the year 2020 -Wildcard

    I was pleased to gain a place once again as a wild card entry in this year's Heat 3 Landscape artist of the year held at West Wycombe House in Buckinghamshire. We had to carry all of our canvases, paints, easel, chair, table and provisions a fair distance this year and have now invested in a nice collapsible trolley !
