My landscape work is a response to the patterns and textures found in the environment, an aerial perspective highlighting this. Bold and full of colour, in this piece I have created a little outback world from the original abstract pattern first put down, decorated with a scattering of little white gum trees and other vegetation.

The dominance of pattern in Bell’s practice is attributed to her experience of an uncommon neuro-ophthalmological condition. The artists’s visual field is filled with patterned dots characterised by movement. While it may not be a visual experience shared by many, our surroundings are full of man-made and naturally occurring patterns. Bell’s work points us towards such beauty of the ordinary.
