Acrylic gestural landscape of the famous view of Quiraing, on the Isle of Skye.
Whilst spending nearly two months on the Isle of Skye, the landscape that surrounded me completely astounded me, every single day. This popular view, one of the most photographed in the Inner Hebrides, was such a pleasure to paint.
I used a multilayered technique, bringing in the texture of the rocks that form part of this ancient landslide. I loved the subdued colours of the heather and grasses. I have memories of striding through a flattened, yellow grass filled mountain top further south on Skye, and discovering that bog tends to lurk under such a delicate colour.
