Original artwork description:

This painting was inspired by the dedication and endless sacrifice of our healthcare and front line workers during the current worldwide crisis. It is reminiscent of the works of the Post WW II Abstract Expressionists and their practice of Colour Field painting as well as the works of Canadian artist Jean Albert McEwen.

While the work is predominantly red, there are variations of reds, pinkish reds, black, and a bit of gold that are seen as a result of the multi-layer technique I used.

Please note that photographing red is an art in itself and different screens will show this work in different ways. The painting is red and while seen in natural daylight it is a dark pinkish (cool) red. The main image of the painting as seen in this listing was taken outside to show the most accurate tone of the red. However, with incandescent lighting, the work appears a warmer red.

The painting is ready to hang with wire attached. The gallery-style canvas has sides painted in black to complete the look.

Materials used:

Gesso and Acrylic
