The trees in this series of monoprint collagraphs, are dedicated to music, the music the wind makes in the branches, the birdsong, the natural sounds that form the most magnificent symphony of sounds.
on rainy Sundays I love to play around with collagraphs and mono prints, this is a collagraph, that means that I have created my "ingredients" to be inked up in various materials. I only print a few, and they vary so much, that they become mono prints. As I ink very loosely the colors vary, and can not be reproduced, and the placement of the elements is also done on a mono print basis. I tend to at most make 4 - 5 prints from the collagraph plate/s, as their purpose is to be very creative and not as process bound as my etchings and linocuts.
My collagraph elements are made from cardboard pieces, I add tape, glue, scratch and cut lines, let the plate dry and then I shellack it so it takes the ink nicely. As the cardboard is fragile,it does not make many prints, something that I as a printmaker also find very relaxing.
I ink up all the separate pieces and put the first ones on the press, I then keep adding in several pulls through the press, getting the overlap that is such a big part of this kind of printing.
I have printed my set of collagraph monoprints on watercolor paper,
white and lightly textured.
I have printed with a soft sooty black and a very juicy turquoise, with one red accent, in oilbased etching inks.
I have signed the monoprints on the front, and numbered them 1/1
The papersize is 8" x 12" ( 20cm x30 cm ) and I have printed it with a nice surround free, so it frames easily. You can make quite a large piece out of these prints with the right mat and frame as they are strong and quite masculine. Frame them together or apart.
I ship from my studio in Denmark, wrapped so it arrives safely to you, just say if you would like gift wrap!
Thanks, for looking in my shop, and welcome back.
