This small painting was done quickly in plen aire. It is an effort to capture the rapidly changing colors and forms of the cloud during an impending thunderstorm at sunset. The movement is always challenging but the understanding gained from doing this work is valuable to the rest of the series.
This appears quite abstracted when viewed closely, but at a distance, the true subject matter reveals itself. The freshness, freedom and rogue qualities makes this one of my favorite paintings.
