Artist's description:

Breskens is located in Zeeland – a region of the Netherlands where I often go on painting trips to the sea. This painting is really a study of sand since sand fills the largest part of the painting, with the wooden beach restaurant on stilts against the dunes creating an interesting backdrop. I even used real sand in the painting, which was painted on site, even though, unlike with thicker media than watercolour, the sand didn´t remain stuck on after the painting dried but simply served to give an interesting visual texture in the foreground. Strandpaviljoen Groede is one of a series of paintings of beach restaurants painted on this stretch of coast in Zeeland, Netherlands.
