This artwork is the original photograph I took in my "Photo Abstracts" series. I saw how an image of the side of a boat could be framed in such a way that it resembled the compositional layout of a Mark Rothko painting. Rothko is an artists who has inspired me a great deal. I try to show the beauty of everyday objects around us by taking photographs of them that reflect reality but have the spirit of abstract expressionism.
I always compose my images very carefully, cropping what I see in a way to create a striking composition. After that, I edit the photographs using photoshop, but in such a way as to only enhance what was really there, not to alter reality, as I think that it is important that these photographs reflect the hidden beauty that can be found all around us.
