Original artwork description:

An acrylic painting on canvas, this colourful and energetic artwork is a part of my recent "Ocean Floor" series.

The work was inspired by the amazing variety of sea life to be found in our oceans. I wanted to try and capture the vitality of the life of the sea - how there is so much movement, energy and endless variety in the oceans of the world. These paintings are a celebration of that. The forms of this painting are suggesting some of the more weird and wonderful sea creatures to be found in the ocean depths - giving it a sense of drama but also playfulness.

Like so much about the natural world we hold dear, these environments and creatures are threatened by climate change, so these paintings are also my exhortation to us all to nurture and treasure the ocean before it is too late.

The artwork is sold farmed. The frame is part of the painting as the picture had "spilled out" from the canvas and onto the frame itself. The painting is varnished with a UV filtering varnish that prevents fading.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint, oil pastel
