Artist's description:

This image is a break away from my more usual highly structured forms. Instead, I have developed an image based on scale structures, using only shading to suggest depth and form in the creature to which these scales might belong. In addition, this work is surrounded by a hand drawn frame created to suggest age and decay.

In this work, I hope to infer the movement of the scaled animal moving behind the frame, captured as a snapshot of the reptile's world. In spite of the hard edge of the protective scales themselves, their undulating form suggests the softness of the flesh beneath.

This was created to be the first of a series of images based on scales and feathers. I may even continue that series one day!

This image is sold mounted but not framed.
