Artist's description:

Gicleé - FineArtPrint on Hahnemuehle

Directory / Werkverzeichnis Nr. P22

Edition 3

"Patterns Nr. 22" is a photograph, which I almost completely "digital remastered". I photographed this facade in Berlin in 2011 and modified it just now in 2017. The colours in the picture were given, I just refilled the windows digitally by hand to give theme an even surface and then outlined every area. Finally I ran a fish-eye-filter over it.
Working on a picture that way, to me is like, what Gerhard Richter said about his abstract paintings: "The picture is ready, when I feel that it's ready, when it fulfills my perception of beauty. I keep working on it, until I'm totally pleased with it. Sometimes I even have to step aside for a few days and then look at it anew. If it doesn't convince me, I paint it over."

Architecture and it's ever repeating geometrical structures fascinate me a lot. I think in parts this fascination has to do with the childish 'experience of mass', which psychologists consider very important for babies.
The repetition of anything, in detail being maybe just slightly different in colour or form, always immediately draws my attention. Everything which forms patterns or structures jumps my eyes.
One of my first art books - when I was an adolescent - was an M.C. Escher book. I couldn't get enough of his staircases leading nowhere logical, his playing with the dimensions, his transforming structures, his metamorphosis. It still amazes me.
Andy Warhol is also a big hero of mine because of his repetitions. Not to mention the mercantile aspect he combined into his art.

My prints come with a 6 cm white "surrounding", which makes the framing / mounting more convenient.

If you prefer a "ready-to-hang-solution" - speak to me and for sure we'll find a medium, we both could live with. I very much prefer Aluminium.

The prices of my limited artworks rise, the further the edition proceeds. In other words: the first print of the edition is the best value - more or less a bargain, the last one consequently the most expensive. I consider this logical, because by doing so, my artworks automatically rise in value.
