This is a Treasure Flower, native to South Africa, Gazanias (Treasure Flower or African Daisy) are showy tender perennials, often grown as annuals, exhibiting brightly coloured daisy-like flowers.
This flower was in the garden in Cambridgeshire and I noticed it closes it's petals once the sun goes down, and opens when the sun comes out. I was keen to capture the wide open petals; it is a beautiful sight. I have painted it with the mottling effect and layers of translucent acrylic paint to create depth and rich colours and the natural marks of the natural form. The background is also painted with the mottled effect; it is a cohesive modernist painting.
The canvas is painted black on the edge and is 3.5 cm thick so you can pop it on the wall unframed or framed if you wish.
I send each work in a secure and carefully packaged cardboard box, well protected inside.
Thank you for taking a look at my work.
