Artist's description:

Spending Easter at my sister´s home on the beautiful Isle of Skye, I walked to the brow of the hill where she lives to where you get this view of her neighbours´homes and beyond that, across to the Outer Hebridean islands of Harris and Lewis. I love the little whitewashed stone cottages that are typical for the region here and the way this narrow road winds down as if it led to those distant islands. In fact, if you want to cross the sea, there is a ferry from nearby Uig that you need to take.
Cottages and the sense of cosiness that they convey are one of my favourite painting subjects and I love to paint them in their surroundings.
I painted this plein air painting on a fine if quite cold Easter Sunday on the Isle of Skye.
