On a dull, white cloud day even the cutest baby seal doesn't make the best image. Which is why I chose to abstract this shot taken from the roadside just north of Kaikura, New Zealand. We spent 45 minutes watching a huge colony of seals resting, suckling, fighting, playing and generally doing what seals do. This little fella was watching his mum warn off a male who was getting too close.
As with all my images of this size, this is dry mounted on a backing board to avoid wrinkling in future. A double mount inside a black contemporary box frame sets this image off beautifully.
