I use different medium paint and varnish protective that gives deep color. Painting sign in the sides and also on the back. The colors are deeper then looks on computer screen,

The sides are painted, so base base framing comes with nice extension.
I use a gloss varnish to add shine and to protect the painting from harmful UV rays and dust.
