Artist's description:

"Land returning to the Sea" is inspired by the dramatic erosion of the cliffs of the Sussex coast line over the last years, specially through strong winterstorms. Large parts of the cliff at Burling Gap have been falling into the sea, in some cases taking walls and patios close to the cliff edge with them and making buildings unstable. As a consequence those buildings had to be taken down.
The eroding cliffs take with them soil, rock and fossils, back to the sea, where they once belonged. It is as if the sea claims back land.
I cut the steel plate by hand to soften the otherwise rigid edges of the plate.
Each print is an original etching, hand printed on acid free fine art printmaking paper. The image size is approximately 44cm x 59cm with a paper margins of 7cm all around.
