This is a portrait of the abolitionists and former slave, Frederick Douglas. I encourage anyone and everyone to read about the life of Frederick. It is almost unbelievable that a man, born a slave, could rise to such a level of achievement. The background for this painting consists of a reproduction of the cover of his book "My Bondage and My Freedom". Also pages from the introduction from the book and a sheet of some of the original text in his own handwriting.

FREDERICK is a one of a kind original work of art. It is produced using India ink and acrylic paint. I have stayed with my usual pallet of warm “earthy” colors.
I only sell original work so there will only be one original. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.

In this painting, the background has been digitally reproduced and laminated to the 4 mil archival grade mylar and then the portrait and shadow were painted over the background.

This painting will be ready to hang, out of the box. It will be mounted on tempered masonite with a one inch border all around. It will have a hanging strip on the back and I include a “monkey hook” for easy attachment to your wall. It can be on your wall within five minutes.
