“As thoughts turn to relaxing in the summer sun. What could be better than finding a haven such as the country cottage garden? Where summer is truly alive!”
“A family of foxes sunbathes on the lawn at the back of my house. I sketched and photographed them over several months. It proved quite a challenge, as I was desperately to imbue them with the warmth of the summer sun. I painted these as a triptych as I wanted to capture the movements as well as the relationships of the fox cubs. The sun changes between the paintings, the wind blowing the grass and moving the shadows ever so slightly. They are paintings designed to keep a little bit of summer in the house through the dark winter months.”
“A rich abstract contemporary seascape. Inspired by the views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight in the South of England. Layers and layers of sea. Layers and layers of colour. Layers and layers of depth. A painting to get lost in.”
“When dancing becomes passion, then the body becomes the means through which it is expressed.... Movement and harmony, power and emotion are enough to give the artist the inspiration to experiment himself on canvas. Through the darkness, its light, Through harmony, its power....”
“This artwork was inspired by dreamy thoughts of summer when Meadows are bursting with life basking beneath the suns glow.”
“'We rise by lifting others' was the thought floating around in my head as I started painting one morning this week, while the sun was still rising and everything was calm and still. I was reminded of that thought again later on, as the moon began to rise and the almost finished artwork, still sitting on the easel, caught my eye and i remembered the thoughts that had inspired it. Good thoughts I think.”
“Recently, I was at the Dutch coast for a painting holiday, and we painted the seas and skies as a group. The weather was highly unpredictable, extremely windy with frequent bouts of rain. That inspired me to come up with paintings that are colourful, spontaneous and highly impressionistic. More than depicting the colours in front of me, I have captured the mood of the sea and the winds.”
“Painted partly from a live model and partly from the imagination. In this painting I wanted to capture a "voyeuristic" point of view to show that even seemingly simple gesture, like putting your hair up for the day, can hold beauty and complexities. It was made over a series of bright mornings in Colorado looking in from one room to another. I used oils, acrylics, inks and collage papers.”
“It was the last day of 2015, and here are normally a lot of snow on the street, But this time, there was no snow, but the ground was cold and absolutely clear sky, where the sun was going down. It was a pleasant and sunny moment.”
