"We Were All Stardust, 2016" by Louise Mead

“As Carl Sagan once said, 'We are made of star stuff. We are a way, for the cosmos to know itself.' I find this thought both comforting and awe-inspiring at the same time. To know deep down, that we are all made from the same stuff, it gives me hope that even the greatest differences can be overcome with time.”

"Climbing Roses in La Treille Courtyard, 2016" by Dominique Amendola

“This canvas was painted in Provence, France, in one of those classic, small villages in a courtyard called La Treille. La Treille became famous as the place where writer Marcel Pagnol spent his summer holidays during his childhood - at the Bastide Neuve - and where he is now buried. It is a very romantic place full of old stones and flowers. In this painting, two rose bushes have climbed towards each other forming a sort of arch.”

"Sapphire Stroke, 2016" by Aaron Knight

“Vaguely erotic, a single figure glides easily through an expanse of gemlike water ranging from sapphire to aquamarine. Deep hues and intense tones create intricate patterns that partly obscure the nude swimmer. Glints of pink accent the highlights on the ripples. The body radiates warm energy as she slips in and out through the surface of the cool water. I love working with water and other liquids; the ungovernable nature of liquid provides a balance between order and chaos. I can predict the general nature of the image, but the exact details are left to chance.”

"The Rose was Looking..., 2015" by Marina Kim

“For this painting, I was inspired by beautiful poem "Casida de la Rosa" by Federico Garcia Lorca The rose was not looking for the morning: on its branch, almost immortal, it looked for something other. The rose was not looking for wisdom, or for shadow: the edge of flesh and dreaming, it looked for something other...”

"Ties That Bind " by Rich Ray Art

“Blood, truth and secrets. Hidden shame, lies and suicide. They know, but no longer care. They look, but know longer see. Together they have risen above the past. Sharing only what makes them strong. Only what makes them happy.”

"Ascension, 2016" by Jill Griffin

“I have been in a slump for a while and my painting mojo well and truly awol and nothing I did made good art. I thought perhaps I might revisit some old subjects and explore those a while and in doing so I became beguiled with swallows that have been harvesting bugs in the field behind my studio. This work is an ascension out of the doldrums and back into a happier more creative place while being an exploration of the movement of these charming creatures as they take flight.”

"NTO 001.06A, 2016" by Teun van der Zalm

“In the second quarter of 2015, I began to research an new project: What lies beyond the edge of the Observable Universe? I began an experiment to visualize this through our universal language: mathematics. Built from several different noise fields, this was the first of many different nebulas.”

"Snail Train" by Valerie Erichsen Thomson

“This painting was really fun to paint. Most of my work is purely abstract, but occasionally imagery emerges that is strong enough to remain through the manipulation of color, form and texture (which is my main interest.) I loved finding the snail train, the angel, a bird, a catfish and tulips among other things the viewer may find too.”

"Breaking Through, 2016" by Christel Haag

“Sometimes it doesn’t take long for dreams and wishes to come true and sometimes it does. How long it takes is not what’s most important; the main thing is that we hang in there and don’t give up our goals. It’s an unbelievably magical moment when the doors to the world of dreams finally open up widely.”

"Miss You Already" by Eva Volf

“This piece portrays tide and rock, enduring an eternal cycle of togetherness before being torn away from each other. I imagine them saying to one another, "I miss you already".”
