“I have been in a slump for a while and my painting mojo well and truly awol and nothing I did made good art. I thought perhaps I might revisit some old subjects and explore those a while and in doing so I became beguiled with swallows that have been harvesting bugs in the field behind my studio.This work is an ascension out of the doldrums and back into a happier more creative place while being an exploration of the movement of these charming creatures as they take flight.”

Alexander Kriushin is works in the traditions of the European school of fine arts, combined with the southern temperament of execution. The artist travels a lot and works en plein air, but often a plain etude is just an excuse for further work, and then the work begins in the studio.
