"Breathe, 2016" by Abi Whitlock

“Returning to the surface and gasping for air after a long period submerged in the water. Upon ascension and once breaking the surface, the swimmer feels almost as if she has returned from another world.”

"Tulips, 2015" by Daria Galinski

I picked this lovely flower bouquet in a field near my home. In the bunch, you can see different colored tulips, deep purple, soft pink, orange, and white. I thought carefully about the composition – the way to show all the flowers in the better view, to balance the contrast of dark and light.”

"Winter Park inspired by Ivan Aivazovsky, 2016" by Mila Moroko

“When winter comes and especially before Christmas and New year we all dream about snow and winter beauty around us. I believe this artwork conveys some winter magic and Christmas spirit. Working with it I was inspired by master Aivazovsky who was not only maestro in marine pictures but was brilliant landscape artist as well.”

"Autumn Beeches, 2016" by Alexandra Buckle

"I enjoy woodland walks any time of year, but there is something special about an autumnal woodland walk. The myriad colours that nature displays as the leaves turn is hugely inspiring for me. Colour has always been very important to my work, and I am always looking to nature to find interesting combinations."

"Ice Cream Bomb, 2016" by Angeline Tournier

I'm obsessed with ice cream cones: the shape, the symmetry, the colours. This is an abstract interpretation with exploding pastels and silver ice cream balls.”

"This is Not Me, 2016" by Sal Jones

“This work portrays a fleeting moment, the expression of the subject offering us a glimpse into their innermost thoughts. The work can be interpreted as part conversation, part musing, into which the viewer is drawn willingly or not into the world of the subject, both in a voyeuristic and complicit way.”

"Swift Transition, 2016" by Aaron Knight

“This image is bursting with energy in tones of electric blue and effervescent whites. Sweeping lines radiate out from the diver. Plunging is a metaphor for a sudden transition with abandon. It's a celebration of exhilaration, a carefree lifestyle where one reaps the rewards of taking risks. This artwork applauds a lifestyle that is unafraid of experiences. The ungovernable nature of liquid provides a balance between order and chaos; I can predict the general nature of the image, but the exact details are left to chance. A constantly moving mirror and lens, the liquid provides intricate visual surprises.”

"Catching The Light, 2016" by James Henry Johnston

“This is one of a series of portrait paintings I painted recently which use local Swansea people as my models. The people are everyday people who work in shops, the post office, cafes or people I meet on the street and simply want to paint as I like their faces. I love the idea of painting common people as much portraiture traditionally is associated with the famous, rich or with status. I liked to challenge that idea and make the ordinary, extraordinary.”

"Storm Over the Heart Land" by Angus MacDonald

“This painting I did while thinking of the food that we eat and where it comes from and how hard farmers work and depend on mother nature for the success of their crops. The impending storm could be either a blessing or a curse - a little rain is good but too much rain is not good. I painted this piece as I do all of my other paintings: strictly from my heart and my imagination. This painting reminds me of my younger days of growing up on the Mexican border, where the farmers grew cotton and cantaloupes while praying for rain to come.”

"Darkness and Light, 2016" by Koit Ratas

“When this room was dark, and when arrived the morning light, it created this beautiful image, in front of my eyes. I enjoyed a cup of tea before taking a picture to capture the serenity.”
