“This painting depicts a girl in the memories of winter. My love of the snow and mountains has been a big part of this picture - I wanted to bring that magical feeling of winter alive.”

“Inspired by the swifts swooping over the rooftops in southern Spain, this is a portrait of a village in a wide Mediterranean landscape.” - Janis Goodman
“This watercolour study captures the stance of Cock Robin. One of a series of freely painted birds by illustrator Isabelle Brent, start your collection of paintings with this little original!” - Isabelle Brent
“In December in Edinburgh a temporary skating ring is set up in the Princess Street Gardens. I was inspired by the sight of the people, of all ages, enjoying the thrill of movement on ice. Some folk skate confidently, and some are taking their first tentative slides. I'm sure everyone can remember one or two painful and embarrassing moments in the slating ring! The original painting has been accepted to this years open exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh (from 23rd November 2013 to 26th January 2014) so I'm making available a limited, signed and numbered edition of Giclee prints.”

Vital Arts have continued their collaboration with artist Blaise Drummond and produced a series of stunning new prints. Following his first permanent commission in the UK at the Royal London Children's Hospital, Drummond has created a series of delicately hand-embellished and collaged editions. In this striking series of three new editions, central elements from his installation at the Royal London Hospital are reconfigured to create individual scenes. Drummond's work explores the representation of nature. In this series, printed wallpaper and reproduced depictions of landscape combine with watercolour and ink. Historically, getting well and a process of recovery were bound up with experiencing nature: ‘taking the waters' and seeking fresh air to heal body and mind. Drummond's work at the Royal London Hospital is unexpected and unruly. Each print is unique as they are each hand-embellished and collaged.
“Having spent many hours constructing dens like this one with my children, I have long wanted to paint one. Covered in a blanket of snow, this one was too good to miss. I painted it in January in the sunny days that followed 3 days of solid snow. The winter woods, usually so dark, had light bouncing all around reflecting off the snow. With all of my snow series, I became quite obsessed by capturing 'that' blue. This painting is on a linen canvas and framed in a bespoke Whistler style frame with gold beading and a pale slip.” - Katharine Rowe
“Hampstead Heath In Winter is a view from the neo-classical building of Kenwood House in snowfall capturing part of the beautiful grounds in one of the most popular open spaces in the capital. The park around Kenwood House is very much a designed landscape in an English style. In the 18th Century Humphry Repton created a series of meandering paths around the estate which would show off all its aspects to their best advantage, creating a series of pleasurable 'surprises' as guests strolled about. This landscape and many of the views can still be enjoyed by visitors today.” - James Cooper
“An affectionate study of the Brown Hare, a species whose numbers and habitat are in decline. I love the fluidity of these creatures...they seem to flow when they run, and I try to catch this in the loose way I paint them. This one is poised for the off....what has he heard?” - Ruth McCabe
“I spent the summer of 2012 in Thailand and whilst travelling around the country I was memorised by the decorative gold that featured across Thai architecture. Whilst on my travels it was a pleasant sight but upon my return to the UK I felt shock and confusion as to why a greatly poverty stricken country is decorated with so much gold. This inspired me to create work that displayed decorative gold on familiar and run down architecture commonly seen across the UK. The simple designs of council flats and tower blocks I felt were an interesting surface to juxtapose the recognised symbol of wealth. This stretcher was 100% hand built and stretched by the artist to professional standards.” Discover James' promotion in Artfinder's Advent Calendar: https://www.artfinder.com/artist/james-yeo/sale/
