    Landscape Reflections XV

    Landscape Reflections XV

I have been creating a series of paintings which I have called 'landscape reflections' which all feature reflections in water. Lately I have become hooked on using the sumptuous range of 'Golden' acrylic paints and gels to add texture and sheen to the works. They are expensive but I figure that I am worth it !

Paintings for the Titchfield Art Show 2018

I am currently completing nine original artworks which will be exhibited at the 2018 Titchfield Art show. This is always a great art show well supported by some well known local and regional artists where the artists price the artworks very competitively to support the show. Well worth a visit, particularly for the preview night which this year is Friday 27 April. Tickets need to be purchased in advance. See web site http://titchfieldartandcraft.co.uk/

Four Seasons Exhibition at Southampton City Art Gallery

Four Seasons Exhibition at Southampton City Art Gallery

I am delighted to have my painting 'Winter Song' selected to be exhibited as part of the 'Four Seasons' exhibition at the Southampton City Art Gallery from 3rd Feb to 21 April. This painting is a depiction of a Winter landscape, one of a series depicting the Hampshire Downland Landscape through the four seasons, inspired by poems. This painting is inspired by an extract from the Katherine Mansfield poem ' Winter Song' …."Snow and sleet, and sleet and snow. Will the winter never go?.... Snow and sleet, and sleet and snow " .I have limited edition prints available for sale of all four paintings at http://www.the-art-barn.com/collections/paul-best

    'Steak of the Art' Southampton

I am very pleased to have paintings featured currently at the Steak of the Art restaurant/gallery at Ocean Village in Southampton. It is good to find a venue that has the space to exhibit some large 102cm x102cm paintings.

    Halved a Soul

    Halved a Soul

I am pleased to have sold another of my 'Halved a soul' limited edition prints to a buyer in Buriton. This is proving to be a popular print... less is more it seems. The original painting which was featured as the Artfinder ' Art of the Day' on Valentines day this year, is a depiction of a distinctive thorn tree for Romantics, inspired by an extract from the William Butler Yeats poem 'A man young and old VIII' "We sat under an old thorn -tree And talked away the night' Told all that had been said or done Since first we saw the light, And when we talked of growing up Knew that we'd halved a soul And fell the one in t'other's arms That we might make it whole." http://www.the-art-barn.com/…/prod…/RS-PB-028/halved-a-soul/

Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Autumn

Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Autumn

I am pleased to have sold one of my series of paintings inspired by The Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Petersfield in Hampshire in Autumn time this week. The Country Park receives a huge amount of visitors each year .. just less than Madame Tassauds I believe, making it the fourth largest visitor attraction in the UK. I am very pleased that I will be having my fourth solo exhibition there in April 2018.
