I thought this painting and man's face was so interesting. The expression and detail on this is wonderful. I've had people get stuck staring at it. I bought a frame for it and have been deciding if I should put behind glass or not, but the texture is what makes it that much more interesting. Max was very communicative in getting the piece to me, and it will be such a talking point in the house.

Hi Melissa, Many thanks for the great review. It is always nice to receive a positive response from the people who have bought one of your works. I especially liked painting this mans face as (to me) it showed the image of peroson who has lived a hard and difficult life but who still has not been beaten down and perhaps still has a sense of humour, perhaps a bit of a rascal. I absolutely love this painting. My only comment was the canvas was cut a bit narrow around the painting which made it a little more difficult to frame. But my framer was able to work around it. Thank you Max for the communication before and after shipping, and thank you again for the artwork.

I must admit that I rather liked the work myself, it is based on a photograph that I took on my last visit to the Isle of Man and is of a bay quite near to where I went to school when I lived there. Another excellent picture of Max's. Captures the feeling of the location perfectly, the expansive views and the vulnerability to the wind - but as its painted on a still day, can almost smell the gorse! Brings back memories of trips up onto 'the tops' with George Quayle. Also thanks again Max for the delivery arrangements. Dave

Hi Dave, Thanks for the great review and also for the e mail/s. I thought from what you said in an earlier note that you would see the pines when you were doing the geophysical mapping up there. What were you trying to discover, old buildings, burial sites, artifacts?? I took the pictures that I used as the basis for the painting some years ago when i was a bit more athletic than I am now, in fact I used to do a lot of running which included going up Sky Hill. I have George Quayle's book "Legends of a Lifetime" which I still re-read from time to time, I seem to remember seeing him in Ramsey from time to time when I was still living there although my brother Tony would probably recall him a lot better. Anyway all the best for the moment. Max
