Owls are such amazing creatures and this youngster was from a new birds of prey centre quite near home. He was with his handler and was so well behaved, only hissing a little when I was walking round him to sculpt the different angles. I guess he felt I was surrounding him....? I wanted to get the sense of his feathers and his essential 'owlness'. I sculpted it in wax and it's been hanging around at home for a while before I got it cast. I'm pleased with how it's come out after casting.
