I was inspired to paint When the North Wind Doth Blow during a period of cold windy weather coming from a north easterly direction. Scotland did have snow but it did not reach as far as Hampshire. The fast moving clouds inspired the movement in my painting, and the first two lines of a little nursery rhyme dating back to the 16th century made a perfect title, which has been painted on the edges in complementary colours , left “The North wind Doth blow,” right “ And we Shall Have Snow”. Painted on a Burnt Sienna ground, presented ready to hang.
“Shipped carefully packed in mostly recycled materials with a certificate, in a box dispatched with a track and trace identity.
The North wind Doth blow,
And we shall have snow,
And what will the poor robin do then poor thing?
He’ll sit in a barn,
And Keep himself warm,
And hide his head under his wing, poor thing
