Portland hosted the Sailing of the 2012 Olympics and this sculpture celebrates that time. It is based at the top of the isle of Portland and the view is over the famous Chesil Beach - on a summers day. I used HP balanced watercolour paper which I gessoed first to allow longer working time with the @Liquitex acrylic inks that I used to complete a series of 12 illustrations of the Isle of Portland, in the UK. I wanted to have a transparency of the media and subtle muted colours reflecting the stone quarried from Portland. At the same time, I was able to use pen and other less traditional instruments to produce the line work.
