✒︎ The whole world is watching how the Ukrainian nation rallied to resist the aggressor and defend its own land and independence.
When somebody asks me if my people are safe, I don't know what to answer, because "my people" are a lot of people. These are my relatives, friends and acquaintances, art students, and colleagues, among them not only people but also animals, who suffer even more than people during wartime.
This is the 1st portrait I painted during the war when I felt that the pain had increased so much that I could not even cry, and the strength of faith in my people had grown so much that it must be remembered.
Evgenia Poberezhna lives in the Kyiv region, she is an artist, whose talent I admire, a person of great kindness and grace, a mother of a large family, including animals from the shelter.
Ukraine will withstand and win thanks to the spirit of the Ukrainian soul, whose wings can never be broken, and to the people all over the world who stand with us.
