This picture typifies my approach to creating art. A picture must affect a viewer emotionally and refuse to be ignored. This is an intense image accentuated by the texture of charcoal, the distressed and gouged background and very tight cropping of the face.
In this case, the image is recessed in a frame and the highlights are painted on the glass. This gives the picture a 3D impression adding depth and intrigue.
