This etching was initially a commission for an album cover for a musician. Selkies are a marine legend. In the water they are seals, on land they are human.
The three swimmers' identity is realised by their shadows, the shadows of seals.
The method used for this image is etching on a copper plate with hard ground and aquatint.
Materials used:
Oil-based printing ink and Somerset Satin paper
