Artist's description:

the show must go on

This is a scene set in seventeenth century England. The ship 'Royal Prince' sails by Orford Castle. Like today's institutions, the royal ship asserts command, community and bounty. While some of us have cause to doubt such declarations 'we’ve got to live, no matter how many skies have fallen.' So we wash our face, answer the call, and present on deck.

technical note
This print is pulled from relief plates cut from rubber, a variation of letterpress. The completed edition made 5 copies. The print is on a sheet measuring 11x13 inches (280x330mm). To bring the sheet down to a measure of 8x10 inches I would trim one and a half inches from the margin of all four sides, prior to dispatch. However, if you would prefer the sheet left untrimmed then the option is open and I would message for your preference before dispatch.

Materials used:

oil-based printing inks and cartridge paper

the show must go on (2018)
