The Moon Tree
The name is inspired by a wonderful story about the seeds of several trees that travelled with the astronauts to the moon and back on Apollo 14 nearly 50 years ago. Stuart Roosa, the astronaut who orbited the moon in the Kitty Hawk command module, was a forest ranger and he had the idea to take seeds into space. On his return to Earth the seeds were accidentally mixed together and everyone assumed them to be dead but surprisingly most of them germinated. The seeds were sent to lots of different locations around the world to grow and they were named The Moon Trees, one, a Loblolly Pine stands in front of the White House.
So, who knows, maybe my moon tree has circled the moon and come back, maybe one day we can all take a spaceship to the moon with our own moon seeds.

I photograph and print every image, I do not outsource any part of my workflow. Each canvas has been painstakingly crafted to ensure the true colours, resolution and texture are exactly as they should be.
For these special small editions of my work I use Canson® Infinity Museum ProCanvas. This fabulous 100% cotton canvas has been designed "for professionals producing true Fine Art Reproductions that require precision images with a very high resolution".
Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper and canvas for over 450 years in France. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, Canson has the choice of many famous artists such as Picasso, Ingres, Chagal and Miro to name but a few. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special.
The canvas is printed and quality checked by me, it is then varnished with two coats of Hannemuhle matte varnish to protect it from scratches. It has been gallery wrapped so that the image carries on round the sides.
By using beautiful Canson Museum ProCanvas paper combining it with the fabulous non-fade Epson Ultrachrome K3 with Vivid Magenta inkset of 9 colours, I can produce a print of exceptional quality which will last a lifetime without fading.
